Beschluss des Demos von Halasarna,die Tempelpfleger stellten den Antrag: Da Herodotos S.d.Herakleitos als Beauftragter für Herakles dieOpfer für den Gott namens der Bürger ausführtein einer für sich selbst und seine Vorfahren würdigen Weiseund die Besucher während seiner Amtszeitzusammen mit den Demengenossen aufnahm,dabei keinen Aufwand scheute,sondern vielmehr willens war, seine Gesinnungunter Beweis zu stellen, die er gegenüber dem Volkhegt; - damit nun auch das Volk in sichtbarer Weise diejenigenMänner, die ihm Wohltäter sind - - -,ehrt, wolle man beschließen: dass man belobigeHerodotos, S.d. Herakleitos, für seine Frömmigkeitgegenüber den Göttern und sein Wohlwollengegenüber dem Volk und ihn bekränze mitgoldenem Kranz (im Wert) von zwanzig Goldstücken, wegender Verdienste und des Wohlwollens ihm gegenüber; damitaber die Verkündung des Kranzes geschehe,soll man Männer wählen, und zwar drei aus allenDemengenossen, die bei ihrem Auftritt vorden Vorstehern und dem Rat und die Volks-versammlung diesen Beschluss überreichen unddie Bürger bitten, dass die Verkündunggestattet werde bei den Dionysien am Wettkampf, wie esder Demos erbittet. Die amtierenden Tempelpflegersollen diesen Beschluss aufzeichnenund weihen in das Heiligtum des Apollon.Die entstandenen Kosten für denKranz und die Beschriftungder Stele - - -- - -

It was decreed by the deme of the Halasarnans,sacral-administrators proposed: inasmuch as Herodotos son ofHerakleitos when magistrate for Heraklescarried out sacrifice to the god in behalf of the citizensin a manner worthy of both himself and his ancestors,and those who visited during his ser-vice he received along with the demesmen,sparing no expensebut rather wishing to make a demonstrationof the zeal that he has toward the deme;so that therefore the deme may be manifesthonoring those men who benefit it - - -,it is decreed: to praiseHerodotos son of Herakleitos for his pietytoward the gods and his generosity towardthe people and to crown himwith a gold crown worth twenty gold staters, because of hisexcellence and his goodwill toward them; so thatalso the proclamation of the crown may take place,three men are to be elected from all thedemesmen who are to go to theprostatai and the council and the assemblyand deliver the decree and requestof the citizens that the proclamationbe granted for the contest of the Dionysia inkeeping with what the deme asks; the sacral-administratorswho are in office are to inscribe this decreeand erect it in the temple of Apollo;the cost incurred forthe crown and the inscribingof the stele - - -- - -
